Where it began
Grab-A-Mow did not begin as an app. It began with a family, a small outdoor-services business, years of hard work, and one problem I kept seeing over and over again.
In June 2016, while working as an Accounts Manager for Aaron’s Sales & Lease, I started Rob’s Outdoor Services. It was our family-run business, and in the beginning, I do not think anyone expected what it would become.
After our first year, we were working seven days a week. Our days were often 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and that work ethic continued for years. We rarely took time away except for one family vacation each year—a week intentionally dedicated to the people who mattered most: our immediate family.
Over time, Rob’s Outdoor Services earned the trust and respect of people throughout our community. We became known for skilled outdoor work and for taking on jobs others sometimes could not.
There has to be an easier way. That question became the beginning of Grab-A-Mow.
The calls we could not help with
Our philosophy was simple: If we were going to do something, we wanted to know how to do it the right way.
But one request kept coming: “Do you mow lawns?”
After our first year, our schedule had become so busy that we decided not to offer routine mowing. When someone called needing their grass cut, I would have to say, “I’m sorry, we don’t mow lawns, but here is someone who might be able to help.”
And knowing me, that was not always easy. There were even times when I saw someone going through a hardship and personally paid to have a lawn taken care of.
Through those conversations, I kept hearing the same stories. Someone had hired a mower, but they never showed up. Someone promised to call back, but never did. Someone needed their grass cut quickly but could not find anyone available. Others were asked to commit to monthly or quarterly service when they simply needed their lawn mowed.
By 2024, those years of phone calls, conversations, and experiences had turned into an idea: What if finding someone to mow your lawn could be simple?
The idea that became Grab-A-Mow
What if homeowners could connect with available Lawn Pros nearby? What if Lawn Pros could decide when they wanted to work, how far they wanted to travel, and which jobs made sense for them?
What if someone looking for occasional side work could find opportunities right alongside someone building lawn care into a full-time career? And what if technology could help bring all of those people together?
That idea became Grab-A-Mow—a marketplace built around something bigger than lawn mowing. It is about connection, opportunity, community, and choice.
Homeowners need dependable help. Lawn Pros need good opportunities. Landlords with properties in different areas need a way to find someone nearby who is ready to work. People looking for additional income need flexible opportunities that can fit around their families, jobs, and lives.
Our radius-based system is designed to connect Lawn Pros with nearby opportunities, helping reduce unnecessary travel and fuel costs while introducing them to customers they may never have otherwise met. When a larger job needs extra hands, connections between Grab-A-Mow Lawn Pros can create opportunities to work together.
Instead of always seeing another Lawn Pro as competition, imagine what can happen when we begin seeing each other as a community.
Work on your terms
As a hardworking entrepreneur and parent, I understand what it takes to keep a roof over a family’s head. Stability matters. So does flexibility.
Lawn Pros choose when they want to work, the jobs that make sense, and their schedule and availability. Customers communicate what they need, when they need it, and what they believe is a reasonable price. The goal is a marketplace where both sides can connect around a fair opportunity.
That same vision inspired Grab-A-Mow Gear. Someone should not have to own a huge landscaping company to feel professional and proud of their work. Whether several Lawn Pros work together or one person completes a job independently, they can feel part of a network, a community, and a team.
A freshly mowed lawn might seem like a small thing. But behind it could be an older homeowner who needed help, a busy parent with one less worry, a landlord caring for a property from far away, a young entrepreneur finding a first customer, or a parent earning extra money for their family.
For years, the calls kept coming into Rob’s Outdoor Services. Eventually, I realized the answer was not for us to mow every lawn. It was to build something that could connect people who needed the work done with people ready and willing to do it.
My prayer is that Grab-A-Mow creates jobs, gives people greater flexibility, strengthens local businesses, supports families, improves neighborhoods, and builds new connections across America.
God bless America, and God bless our communities.
